Avery's Papaw decided that she need some minature horses. He is working on breaking them now so maybe next summer she will be able to ride them. She is learning to click her tongue to get them to come over to her at the fence.

Allergy testing
Avery was a brave little girl on August 3rd. She was tested for nut, tree nut, and seafood allergies.
And the results are....... Peanuts and Pecans. The Immunologist wants her to avoid all nuts though since she is allergic to a nut and a tree nut. She can't even eat chocolate chip cookies because most chocolate chips are manufactured on the same machinery as peanuts and tree nuts. I feel sorry for her. There is a 20% chance that she might outgrow this, so we are praying for her to be in that 20%. We go back next August to be retested. She was a trooper, she only cried a few seconds because they had cool toys in the waiting room. She was more upset about having blood drawn.

Happy Birthday

Avery celebrated her 1st birthday on Saturday the 27th. It was a beautiful day. She enjoyed visiting with all of her family. Her Great Great Aunt and Uncle even came. She smashed her cupcake but had a few bites too. She didn't care for ice cream, she said "ew too cold". She is not a fan of cold food or drink. She loved pulling the tissue paper out of the present bags and wanted to climb into the bags. After the party she got to spend the evening playing with her cousins, they spent the night in the camper. She was all tuckered out and slept all night, that was her present to mommy. She is getting so big, to think that just a year ago she was so tiny.

Spring Time Adventures
Avery spent the whole day outside today. She enjoyed lots of new things. Her first adventure included tasting rocks, then she decided she liked throwing rocks. She moved on to tasting sycamore seed pods, wow those things are furry. Oh and then Jr. Mint (1 of our outside cats) came out of hiding to see what we were doing. She is really good with Avery and tolerates the patting and attempts of being picked up. Avery's next treasure made mommy holler, I looked at her and saw that she had something in her hand trying to feed it to Jr. Mint, then she tried a taste of it and when I get to her she has a hold of a crawdad. It was dead thank goodness, but I didn't know that at the time. Jason made lots of fun of my screaming. That was the highlight of his day. Then she moved on to the water puddle in the grill cover, she made sure she got her hair wet and tried a drink just like the bathtub. Then it was back to Jr. Mint. I hope she is wore out and sleeps well tonight.

Guess who likes The Who?
Unfortunately I cannot get the video loaded for this but during the half-time show of the Super Bowl, Avery started dancing to the song "Who are you?" by The Who. We did not encourage her to dance, she just heard it and started bouncing around. It was very cute and maybe someday I will figure out how to get videos off the camcorder onto the computer.
What is this on your face?

We ventured out of the house yesterday after being stuck inside for 8 days. Daddy took us to see Uncle Travis at Grandma and Grandpa's. Our driveway is mostly uphill and daddy says the car won't make it up so we rode with him in the truck. Uncle Dirck is home on leave for 3 weeks so he drove in from Virgina to visit for a few days. He had more snow at his house, they had 55 inches. We won't complain about our 13 anymore. Avery was very interested in his beard and tried to pull it off. She was a little shy at first but she warmed right up to him. He even brought birthday presents, since he will be back at work on her actual birthday. She found 12 pairs of her favorite puma socks and cute clothes and even a Tigger hat and gloves in her bag. These little puma socks are the ONLY ones that will stay on her feet.

"And she laid there like a slug"

Does this line ring a bell with anyone? If not, this is a line from one of our favorite movies "A Christmas Story". There is a scene where Randy falls down in the snow and he is so bundled up that he can't move.
This was Avery's first time playing in the snow, she was more interested in watching the huge flakes fall all around her.
It's been a year
Humm I think I was snowed in last year about this time. Last year was worse though because of the ice. I at least have a little friend this time around that keeps me busy.
